The Brewery

Roger Davis had semi-retired from the corporate world in 2009 when he decided to explore brewing. He contacted his buddy Bobby Thomas who jumped right in. Soon they started brewing their own beer right in Roger’s basement. They created a homemade brewing system from a 15-gallon brew pot, water coolers, various tools and hoses and started creating recipes.

After about a year and many positive reactions from their friends, they realized their little basement brewing outfit had larger potential. The Red Hare Brewing Company was born and a larger space was found to match their goals. Over the next few months Red Hare secured proper equipment and licensing. On Labor Day weekend, 2011, Red Hare Brewing opened its doors to the public for tours and tastings. Soon, Red Hare beer was available at restaurants and pubs in Marietta, Decatur and Atlanta.

Now, situated in an 11,000 sq. ft. warehouse, Red Hare Brewing Company has a 20 barrel brewhouse with a 220 barrel fermenting capacity. Making every day beer for beer fans everywhere, Red Hare’s flagship beer is Long Day Lager. Other year round Red Hare beers are Gangway IPA and Watership Brown. Keep an eye out for our Rabbit’s Reserve Series, limited edition, one-off batches that are released a few times a year.

Red Hare is the first craft brewery to offer beer in cans in Georgia. Long Day Lager and Gangway IPA in 12 oz. cans have fast become a favorite of craft beer fans in Metro Atlanta; Watership Brown will be the next Red Hare brew to be canned.

The Red Hare Family

Roger Davis – Managing Partner. Hailing from Ellijay, Roger has a Marketing degree from University of West Georgia and applied his marketing and sales experience to help establish and create the Red Hare brand. When he’s not taking care of business at the brewery, he can be found out on the links or spending time with his wife, Bertha, and the rest of the family including sons Robbie, Carter and Ben. He enjoys lagers of all types.

Bobby Thomas – Head Brewer. Bobby puts his Kennesaw State University degree in Business Management to work in a different light at Red Hare. As head brewer, he oversees the entire beer making process, including creating recipes and helping craft unique casks. Occasionally he leads an in-depth brewery tour, but loves getting outside and spending time with his little girl. IPAs speak to his heart, but he says his favorite beers change regularly.

Bryan Eberle – Sales and Marketing Director. A Mississippi State University grad, Bryan heads up a three-member sales and marketing team for Red Hare. His craft beer passion originates from growing up in Oregon (Go Ducks!). He worked for Craft Beer Alliance in San Francisco and in the Southeast. He’s also a new father, welcoming his first child in September. His favorite non Red Hare brew is Bear Republic Racer 5.

Jessica Chalmers – Sales, Marketing and Tasting Room Manager. Born and raised GA Peach, this Georgia Southern University grad spent time marketing Anheuser-Busch  with Atlanta Beverage Company. When not raising brand awareness and promoting all things Red Hare, she’s seen managing the taproom at the brewery or spending time in the great outdoors on her horse, or with Lilly, her Great Pyrenees, who is also sometimes spotted at the brewery. A self-proclaimed lover of all beer, she favors porters & stouts when given the chance.

Elyse Moore – Social Media Slave/ In House Artist. Elyse is not a Georgia native, but her paintbrush sure knows it’s way around the local craft beer scene. After graduating college with an Art degree she freelanced as a mural artist. She painted several Red Hare Murals including the one in our taproom! Now she’s switched mediums and spreads the word about Red Hare through Facebook and Twitter. She is an avid IPA drinker, some may even call her a hop-head!

Tom Slinn – Brewer. Tom handles the hands-on aspects of brewing beer and managing quality control at Red Hare. This Kennesaw State business management student is also a homebrewer and enjoys representing the company at beer festivals and visiting Red Hare accounts. His favorite beer styles include American Brown, California Common, Imperial Stout and Dunkelweizen.

George Cochran – Kegger/Cellar Dweller/All Around Go-Getter. As a history grad at Georgia College and State University, George learned the importance of brewed beverages throughout world history. A devoted disciple of craft beer and homebrewer, Tifton native George helps all around the brewery, from pouring beer in the taproom, to kegging beer and manning the canning line. His favorite beer style is Saison.

Patrick Toon – Finishing Brewer. Patrick is a Roswell native with degrees in marketing and management from Valdosta State University. A former sales and marketing intern with Terrapin Brewing Co., Patrick is at home in the brewery as part of the production team. From time to time, Patrick is part of the weekend taproom crew at Red Hare. His favorite beer style is Black IPA.
