UC Davis

Been so busy lately I forgot to post about my second trip out to California a few weeks ago.  I attended the University of California’s Davis extension Intensive Brewing Science course.  I was instructed by two of the brightest minds in our industry, Michael Lewis and Charles Bamforth.  We even had a special guest instructor from Australia, Peter Aldren.  I learned more than I could have ever imagined about the biochemistry and science behind the miracle of creating beer.  My mind is still trying to de-compress.  We examined beer making from grain to glass and all the chemical reactions that take place therein.  A big thanks goes out to the University of California Davis, The Sudwerk Brewery, The Rubicon Brewery, and all the fascinating people that took the time to entertain discussions of brewing beer with me.  Another big thanks goes out to all those at the “co-ops” on campus there in Davis for throwing a killer party.  🙂
